NYE Cocktails

Do you stay in or go out for New Year’s Eve? I personally would choose being out over in most other nights of the year, but NYE is not that night. I love to go out for a nice dinner earlier in the evening then head home. Adam and I started a tradition about 4 or 5 years ago of making vision boards for the new year. So we lug out a bunch of magazines, scissors, glue and posterboards and start talking about our goals. And of course there are cocktails involved! Below I’m sharing a few of our favorite festive cocktails to make for a cozy New Year’s Eve at home. Cheers!

French 75

I love this classic cocktail and the champagne makes it the perfect NYE drink!

  • 1 ounce gin (I use Hendricks)
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or agave)
  • 5 ounces chilled brut champagne
  • orange peel spiral

Shake the first 3 ingredients together with ice then strain into a glass and top with the champagne. Garnish with orange peek spiral!

Fun fact! If you swap out the gin for vodka it’s a French 76 and using bourbon makes it a French 95!

Juniper Royale

Juniper Royale

Surprise! Another gin cocktail! Sensing a trend? Feel free to swap this one out with your liquor of choice as well!

  • 1 ounce gin (always Hendricks imo!)
  • 1/2 fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce cranberry juice
  • dash of grenadine*
  • 3-5 ounces chilled champagne

Shake the first 4 ingredients together with ice, pour into glass, and top with champagne!

*(most grenadine is just sweetened corn syrup with red dye. check labels to make sure you’re getting real grenadine. I like this one)

Blizzard

Blizzard

This one’s for my bourbon drinkers (which is definitely not me!)

  • 3 ounces bourbon (Adam likes Bulleit)
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (this is a great one. it has no high fructose corn syrup)
  • lemon slice

Shake all ingredients together. Pour into an old-fashioned glass over an ice sphere (check out these ice molds) and garnish with lemon slice!

Kentucky Champagne Cocktail

Kentucky Champagne Cocktail

This is another fun and festive champagne based cocktail that is perfect for New Year’s eve!

  • 1 sugar cube (or a teaspoon of agave)
  • 2-3 dashes bitters
  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce peach liqueur
  • 3-5 ounces chilled champagne
  • lemon twist

In the bottom of a champagne soak sugar cube with the bitters. Pour in the bourbon and peach liqueur. Top with champagne. Garnish with lemon peel!

Bonus Content!

Adam has a super fun little hidden talent in mixology! (it stems from all the free time we had while living the island life) He created this cocktail for me a few weeks ago. It includes gin and a dessert wine. We use Madeira from one of our favorite wineries in Napa, V. Satuii, but you can use any dessert wine you like! It gives the cocktail a really great caramel flavor.
