Summer Sangria

It’s hot in Texas. Like really really hot. Triple digits hot. Im not complaining though because I would hands down rather live somewhere where it gets scorching hot than anywhere I need snow boots and an ice scraper.

There are lots of ways to beat the heat…right now I’m trying to convince my husband we need a spool in our backyard. Have you seen these? They’re small inground plunge pools that double as a hot tub in the winter. Look it up on Pinterest! They are darling.

Anyyyway, I digress….

Back to beating the heat (without spending a fortune). I looove to make Sangria in the summer! It’s the perfect cold drink to sip on while it’s hot. I make a big pitcher of it any time we’re having guests over and it’s so perfect and easy. Make it on Thursday or Friday so it has time sit in the fridge and really soak up all the flavors of the fruit! Ive been making this for a few years and I think I’ve got it just perfect now! Recipe is below. It’s easy peasy and so yummy! Enjoy!!

Summer Sangria

  • 8 cups of red wine (I use a blend, usually a box wine because it’s easier and we’ll be mixing other things in anyway. I like to use Bota for this)
  • 1.5 oz of Grand Marnier
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • orange
  • apple
  • strawberries

Add sugar and cinnamon sticks to a large pitcher. Pour the Grand Marnier over it. Cut up the fruit and add it to the pitcher. Pour the wine in. Stir it up! Put a lid on it and place it in the fridge for 24 hours. Serve chilled.

I’m linking this pinterest page of “spools”.  Sooo dreamy. Now you’ll want one too!
